TELAL Rehearsal MMXXIII CD

The 2024 CD release of Rehearsal MMXXIII by the Chilean black metal project Telal, issued by Sword Productions, is a raw and significant archival document for a band that has existed in the deep underground for over twenty years. Although the project formed in Santiago in 2002, this release is one of their most substantial physical offerings, capturing a high-energy rehearsal session recorded in late 2023. The music is characterized by a fierce, traditional black metal sound that emphasizes speed and a cold, aggressive atmosphere, staying true to the uncompromising and radical spirit of the Chilean scene. The CD features eleven tracks that serve as a retrospective of the band’s ideological and musical path, including titles such as In the Name of Pagan Supremacy, Race Loyalty, Divine Violence, and Iron Age. The session also includes the instrumental closer In der Werwolfsschanze, rounding out a total playing time of approximately 34 minutes. This recording is particularly notable for featuring a robust lineup led by founding member Lord Telal on guitars and vocals, supported by Schwarze Sonneritter on drums and Karl Heinrich on guitars. The production is intentionally unpolished, preserving the visceral energy of a live rehearsal while maintaining enough clarity for the sharp riffing and blast beats to remain effective. Released in a limited edition of 500 copies with an 8-page booklet, this Sword Productions edition provides a professional format for a project that remains a pillar of the underground National Socialist Black Metal (NSBM) movement in South America.
