SARMAT RS-28 CD

SARMAT RS-28 CD

Hailing from Poland, a land known for its uncompromising extreme metal, Sarmat delivers a devastating debut with their album RS-28. Originally self-released and later distributed through specialized channels like Selfmadegod Records, this record is a high-impact fusion of Blackened Death Metal that takes its name and thematic inspiration from the Russian intercontinental ballistic missile, also known as "Satan 2." RS-28 is a sonic representation of total annihilation. The music is characterized by its crushing weight and clinical aggression, sitting comfortably alongside the works of Polish titans like Vader, Behemoth, and Hate. The album features surgically precise drumming (with session work by the prolific Krzysztof Klingbein), razor-sharp riffing, and a dual-threat vocal attack that ranges from guttural roars to blackened shrieks. While the speed is often relentless, Sarmat incorporates dark, doom-laden atmospheric breaks—most notably in the title track—that emphasize the apocalyptic and militaristic themes of the record. The production, handled at the renowned Santa Studio in Warsaw, is powerful and clear, ensuring that the "wall of sound" remains coherent even at its most chaotic. This CD is a mandatory acquisition for fans of Black/Death Metal who appreciate a modern, polished sound that doesn't sacrifice any of its primitive violence. It stands as a terrifyingly effective debut, signaling the arrival of a new force in the Polish underground capable of channeling the cold, mechanical horror of modern warfare into a musical form.
