MORT Raw & Cold CD

Hailing from the Bavarian region of Germany, the project Mort delivered their third full-length album, Raw & Cold, in June 2008 through Pestilence Records. Known for their self-styled Pure Frankonian Black Metal, Mort is the creation of multi-instrumentalist Kvaltar (also known for his work in bands like Ungod and Baxaxaxa). This album represents the project's most mature release, marking the transition from a solo studio effort to a full live line-up. True to its title, the music on Raw & Cold is a relentless and unpolished homage to the early 90s Black Metal scene. It is characterized by its gritty production, fast-paced Frankonian wrath, and a cold, aggressive atmosphere that avoids modern trends. The songwriting features sharp, bible-burning riffs and intense vocal performances that have made the band a respected name in the German underground. The album includes standout studio tracks like the title piece and Baphomet - Seelenvater, as well as three bonus live tracks recorded in Schweinfurt in 2007, giving listeners a taste of the band's sick live rituals. For fans of traditional, uncompromising Black Metal in the vein of early Sodom or Ungod, this release is a raw and authentic document of German extremity.
