IDOLOS Ajchikaj CD

The EP Ajchikaj by the French band Idolos, released via the label Acid Vicious in collaboration with Percussive Spectre and Orejona Productions, was released in 2023. This work serves as the final chapter of a conceptual trilogy documenting a cosmic journey from Venus to Xibalba, a theme that aligns with the band's eccentric mythology of being Venusian descendants of Atlantean lineage. Musically, the record is a sophisticated example of Atmospheric Post-Black Metal, blending traditional aggression with progressive structures and melodic layers that create a ritualistic, otherworldly atmosphere. The release spans approximately 25 minutes across four tracks, titled Prolog, Faces Revealed, Into the House of Bats, and The Sun and the Moon. Throughout these compositions, the duo employs a wide range of vocal styles and synth-laden textures to build a soundscape that is both theatrical and melancholic. The physical edition was issued as a professional digipak limited to 500 copies, featuring a detailed 16-page booklet that expands on the release's visual and narrative depth. By concluding their trilogy with Ajchikaj, Idolos solidified their reputation as one of the most creatively unique projects in the modern French underground, successfully merging space-themed concepts with extreme metal foundations.
