HELLIGE Camino de Agua CD

The 2021 album Camino de Agua by the Argentine duo Hellige, released through the Dutch label Dying Sun Records, is a sophisticated and immersive exploration of Atmospheric Avant-Garde Black / Doom Metal. Marking the band's first full-length album after nearly a decade of existence, the record is noted for its deep, dissonant riffs and a hauntingly bleak atmosphere that draws comparisons to avant-garde pioneers like Blut Aus Nord, Lychgate, and Thantifaxath. The release highlights Hellige’s ability to weave together crushing doom weight with the ethereal, unsettling textures of black metal, creating a sonic journey that feels both ancient and experimental. The album is anchored by the massive opening track Las urnas basálticas, a sprawling fifteen-minute opus that sets a dark and cavernous tone for the rest of the experience.
