Elseetoss is an atmospheric black metal project originating from the United States, specifically channeling the cold and crushing sounds of what has been described as Appalachian darkness. In 2021, the band unveiled their self-titled full-length album, Elseetoss, which was released through a joint effort by Non Posse Mori Records and Acid Vicious. Driven by multi-instrumentalists Dylan Brewer and Landon Dalton alongside session drummer Hunter Ecker, the album crafts a deeply sorrowful and bleak musical experience, intertwining raw black metal aggression, haunting piano arrangements, and melancholic, nature-driven undertones. The eight-track record initiates this grim sonic descent with Asphyxiation, a song that quickly builds a dense wall of sound before collapsing into the unsettling, eerie movements of Melody of Worms. The suffocating momentum continues with Purgatory, a track that balances razor-sharp guitar riffs with intense, visceral vocals to serve as one of the record's most defining statements. Listeners are then guided through the frosty, transitionary atmosphere of Autumn Leaves and Frost, which gives way to the oppressive weight and geographic despair captured within Southern Lands. The final act of the album plunges entirely into funeral doom and unyielding darkness, opening with the mournful progression of Funeral, stepping deeper into the abyss with Darkness, and ultimately concluding with The End, a massive, nine-minute epic that seals the album with a wave of bleak dissonance and uncompromised hostility.
