ELIXIR Les Tours du Temps CD
Elixir is a French medieval dungeon synth project originating from the scenic Dordogne Valley in Aquitaine, a region heavily marked by ancient ruins and historical landscapes that deeply influence the music. Conceived as a solo project by multi-instrumentalist Thomas Elixir, the project gained notable recognition in the underground synth community with the release of the compilation album Les Tours Du Temps. Released in 2019 as a limited-edition 4-panel digipak CD through the specialized label Non Posse Mori Records, this comprehensive collection breathes new life into the band's early musical history, acting as a polished re-recording of foundational material originally found on their earlier, scarcer EPs. The nine-track compilation opens its nostalgic, fantasy-driven journey with Walk To The City, setting an unhurried, narrative pace before transitioning into the gentle, melancholic melodies of Light Under The Rain. The record then moves into classic high-fantasy and medieval architecture territory with Lord Somdraker, King Of Black Castle and Moonlight On Black Castle, pieces that layer slow synthesizer patterns to construct a safe, solitary world free of human presence. Listeners are guided through pastoral tranquility with the airy textures of Bright Forest Whispers and the flute-like tones of La Lisière, showing the project's spiritual focus on nature. The final movement of the compilation maintains this peaceful, immersive focus, introducing the warm, solitary frequencies of A Quiet House In The Wood, the ancient sorcery themes of The Mage, and ultimately concluding with the drifting synth pads of Foreign Night, which seals this foundational document of Elixir with an enduring feeling of quiet, medieval escapism.
