BOOBY TRAP Live at MTV CD

The 2021 live album Live At MTV by the Portuguese veteran band Booby Trap, released as a professional CD digipak (technically a 4 panel digifile) via Firecum Records, is a unique document of the global pandemic era. The title MTV does not refer to the famous television network but rather to Metalpoint TV, a streaming initiative launched by the iconic Metalpoint club in Porto to keep the underground scene alive during the 2020 lockdowns. This recording captured the band's raw energy in an empty venue, and the release was specifically intended as a charity campaign to raise funds for the survival of the Metalpoint club during the crisis. Musically, the album is a high-octane showcase of Booby Trap's signature Crossover Thrash style, blending the speed of thrash metal with the grit of old-school hardcore punk. The setlist spans their long career, featuring staples like No Conformity, Overloaded, and Set The World On Fire, alongside a relentless cover of Motörhead's Ace Of Spades. The production, handled by Guilhermino Martins (Blind Zero, Gaerea), manages to capture the live ferocity of the band vocalist Pedro Junqueiro, guitarists Pedro and Miguel Azevedo, bassist Tojó, and drummer Hugo Lemos—despite the lack of a physical audience.
