BLIZZARD Disengaged from Life CD
The album Disengaged from Life by the Hungarian black metal band Blizzard, released on October 19, 2021, via Death Trap Productions, marked a major return for a group that had been largely silent since the mid-2000s. Originally formed in 1995 in Pécs, Blizzard utilized this release to reaffirm their commitment to the traditional black metal aesthetic, delivering a sound that bridges the gap between the raw, freezing atmosphere of the 1990s Norwegian scene and a more modern, powerful production style. The record features eight tracks, including Lightbringer's Crown, The Burning Sigil of R'lyeh, and Corpus Christi, which explore themes of satanism, cosmic horror, and deep misanthropy. Musically, the album is driven by the sharp, persistent guitar work of Typhon and Psna, backed by the aggressive drumming of Frostdemon and the cavernous bass lines of Andro. Renfield’s vocals provide a visceral, rasping edge that cuts through the wall of tremolo-picked riffs and blast beats. While the music remains uncompromisingly dark, the production on this Death Trap Productions release is notably clear for the genre, allowing for a structured and cohesive listening experience that highlights the band's veteran songwriting skills. Limited to 500 copies in a jewelcase CD format, Disengaged from Life successfully revitalized Blizzard's presence in the Hungarian underground, proving they remain one of the most resilient and authentic voices in the country's black metal history.
