BIOLENCE Violent non Conformity CD
The 2017 album Violent Non Conformity by the Portuguese band Biolence, released through Firecum Records, serves as the debut full-length effort for this project hailing from Vila Nova de Gaia. Formed in 1998, the band spent nearly two decades refining their sound before delivering this ten-track record, which offers a powerful blend of Thrash and Death Metal. The music is heavily influenced by the late 80s and early 90s extreme metal scenes, characterized by a raw, aggressive delivery that balances fast-paced thrash riffs with the heavier, crushing atmospheres of death metal. The album runs for approximately 51 minutes and explores lyrical themes of war, human corruption, and the darker side of human existence through tracks such as Nuclear Response, Deceived, Enslaved, and the lengthy closer Melodies of Doom. The production maintains a gritty, underground feel that aligns with the aesthetic of the Firecum Records roster, a label known for supporting the Portuguese extreme metal scene. This release marked a significant peak in the band's long-term activity, establishing a solid foundation for their subsequent 2018 follow-up, Violent Exhumation, and cementing their status as a resilient force in the Northern Portuguese underground.
