VORONDA Blood & Sorcery / Reclaiming the Sign CD
The 2020 compilation Blood & Sorcery / Reclaiming the Sign by the American dungeon synth project Voronda, released via the French label Non Posse Mori Records, serves as a definitive physical collection of the project's early high-fantasy explorations. Voronda is the ambient alter-ego of the prolific musician Etienne Goldberg (also known for his work in the black metal / neofolk project Falgar). This release brought together two major digital works into a single professional format, successfully capturing Goldberg's ability to blend epic, medieval-inspired synthesizers with a somber, nostalgic atmosphere reminiscent of classic RPG soundtracks and high-fantasy literature. The album features a total of 18 tracks, with the first half dedicated to the Blood & Sorcery material and the second half encompassing the Reclaiming the Sign era. Musically, the tracks move between triumphant, percussion-driven marches and quiet, melancholic melodies that evoke images of ancient ruins and forgotten forests. The visual identity of the release was enhanced by the artwork of Gryp (the artist behind the label Acid Vicious), whose aesthetics perfectly align with the sword and sorcery themes inherent in the music. Issued as a professional two-panel digipak CD limited to 500 copies, this compilation solidified Voronda’s status as a top-tier project in the modern dungeon synth underground, offering a continuous and immersive journey through a meticulously crafted sonic world.
