VITRÍOLO Conjuro CD
Hailing from Lisbon, the Portuguese project Vitríolo released their debut full-length album, Conjuro, on April 28, 2024, through Prophetical Productions. This record is the work of the multi-instrumentalist Fred F., who is also known for his role in the project Void of Apep. The music is a raw and menacing blend of Black, Death, and Thrash Metal, specifically crafted with a no frills approach that emphasizes primitive energy and a blasphemous atmosphere. Written entirely in Portuguese, the lyrics delve into themes of demonolatry and witchcraft, adding a layer of occult ritualism to the band's aggressive sound. The album consists of seven tracks, including Lucífugo, Olho do Caos, and the title track Conjuro, resulting in a concise and focused 25 minute experience. The songwriting is characterized by sharp, thrashy riffing and raspy vocals, often incorporating rock-and-roll elements that give the songs a gritty, high-octane edge without sacrificing their dark, blackened core. Released as a limited edition of 200 CDs, the physical version features a 12 page booklet containing lyrics and artwork that reflect the project's interest in the dark arts. Conjuro has been noted in the underground for its uncompromising spirit and its ability to channel the classic filth of the 80s extreme metal scene while maintaining a uniquely Lusitanian identity.
