THY MIST Hyms of the Highthrones CD

Originating from the mountainous region of Veracruz, Mexico, the atmospheric black metal project Thy Mist released its debut full-length album, Hymns of the Highthrones, in early 2025 through the Portuguese label Prophetical Productions. Created as a solo endeavor by the musician Autumnus, the album was composed and recorded during the autumn of 2023, drawing deep inspiration from themes of solitude, nature, and ancestral mysticism. The music is a raw and immersive blend of Atmospheric Black Metal and Dungeon Synth, characterized by its cold, secular production and a dense, haunting atmosphere that seeks to evoke the feeling of isolation within ancient woods. The album consists of six tracks that function as primitive hymns, exploring lyrical concepts of heresy and the rejection of religious orthodoxy. Songs like The Highthrones in the Mist and The Stars Shall Look Not Down showcase Autumnus's ability to layer melancholic guitar textures with ethereal synths, creating a soundscape that feels both ancient and desolate. The European edition released by Prophetical Productions significantly expanded the project's reach within the international underground, allowing this Mexican vision of dark art to resonate with a wider audience. This release established Thy Mist as a notable name in the contemporary atmospheric scene, a reputation further solidified by Autumnus's transition to a live lineup for performances alongside prominent acts like Black Altar.
