SOUPIR Ecoute s'il pleut CD
Soupir is an atmospheric black metal and dungeon synth project hailing from France that captured the attention of the underground extreme music scene with the release of the EP titled Ecoute s'il pleut. Released in 2024 through the label Acid Vicious, this record delivers a deeply melancholic and rainy sonic experience, seamlessly blending raw black metal intensity with nostalgic keyboard melodies and lo-fi textures. The entire release relies heavily on themes of isolation, storms, and natural desolation, perfectly matching the somber meaning behind its title. The seven-track EP begins its dreary journey with Un oiseau, a track that immediately establishes a haunting and desperate atmosphere through piercing guitars and distant, agonizing vocals. This gives way to the shorter, more aggressive burst of Tonnerre de Brest, which injects a surge of frantic energy before transitioning into Jeudi, a brief, minimalist interlude that serves as a quiet moment of reflection. The centerpiece of the record is the title track, Ecoute s'il pleut, a sprawling piece that masterfully captures the essence of a downpour through a wall of bleak melodies and hypnotic repetition. The sonic onslaught returns with the brief but fiercely hostile Je hais le ciel, which flows naturally into the brief ambient soundscape of Averse. Finally, Soupir brings the EP to a dramatic conclusion with Sauve qui peut, a track that leaves a lasting impression of cold despair and unyielding black metal fury.
