PUSSYVIBES / BRUTAL BRAIN DAMAGE Grindhouse CD

The 2015 split CD Grindhouse by the Portuguese bands Pussyvibes and Brutal Brain Damage, released via Firecum Records and Vomit Your Shirt, is an uncompromising showcase of modern Portuguese grindcore and brutal death metal. The 16-track release, which totals approximately 23 minutes, is split between two distinct but complementary approaches to extreme music, unified by a raw production aesthetic and a focus on high-speed intensity. The first half of the disc features Pussyvibes, a one-man project from Nelson, who handles all instruments and vocals to deliver a blasphemous and occult-themed style of grindcore through tracks like Incantation of the Seven Hells and Rites For Satan's She-Devil. The second half features Brutal Brain Damage, a band from the Santarém / Ourém region known for their humorous yet devastating fusion of grindcore and brutal death metal. Their contribution is marked by a no-mercy attitude and includes tracks such as Cum on My Shoulder, Follow 'N' Swallow, and the curiously titled Le Cock Sportif. Unlike the more somber tones of their split partners, Brutal Brain Damage infuses their set with tongue-in-cheek lyrical themes and guest vocal appearances, including a contribution from Nelson of Pussyvibes on the final tracks.
