ORDO SANGUINIS NOCTIS / CMENTARNY ZEW / SIT FINIS HOMINUM Wyżyny Siedmiu Samotności CD
The split CD Wyżyny Siedmiu Samotności, released in 2021 by the Polish label Werewolf Promotion, is a collaborative work featuring three underground Polish black metal projects: Ordo Sanguinis Noctis, Cmentarny Zew, and Sit Finis Hominum. This release is highly cohesive because the projects are closely linked through shared members, specifically the musicians Vorthax and Wened, who are central figures in this specific circle of the Polish scene dedicated to raw, atmospheric, and traditional black metal. The first section belongs to Ordo Sanguinis Noctis, which delivers a melancholic and ritualistic style of black metal. Their contribution begins with atmospheric intro work featuring picked guitars and whispers before transitioning into tracks that pay homage to the 1990s Polish school, balancing mid-tempo rhythms with visceral vocal performances. The second part features Cmentarny Zew (translated as Cemetery's Call), a project focused on themes of death and necrolatry. Their sound is more direct and biting, adhering to a lo-fi aesthetic that emphasizes a grim, graveyard atmosphere. The split concludes with Sit Finis Hominum, which provides a bleak and misanthropic ending to the record, reinforcing the overall theme of isolation suggested by the title, which translates to The Heights of Seven Solitudes. Musically, the album serves as a document of the prolific network of projects managed by these musicians, focusing on themes such as occultism, chthonic cults, and primordial darkness. Released as a standard CD with somber, minimalist visual aesthetics, Wyżyny Siedmiu Samotności is a specialized release for collectors of the Werewolf Promotion roster and fans of organic, unpolished Polish black metal where old-school atmosphere takes precedence over modern technicality.
