NORTHHEART Freedom Earth CD

The 2022 album Freedom Earth by the French project Northheart, released through the label Acid Vicious, marks the debut of a deeply atmospheric venture born from the creative vision of the musician Gryp, who is also recognized for his work in projects like Silent Soul, Litanie, and Wintermoon. Conceived as a sonic ode to the Great North, the record moves away from the aggressive hallmarks of black metal to embrace a purely Ambient and Atmospheric sound, designed to channel the cold essence of Scandinavian landscapes and the transcendental power of Mother Nature. The project focuses on themes of human insignificance and the primordial beauty of the wilderness, creating a meditative experience that prioritizes texture and solitude over traditional melody. The record is composed of five expansive compositions that span over 52 minutes of music, featuring the long-form title track Freedom Earth and the misanthropic Deny Human Existence. These are followed by the somber Death and Nothing and Eternal Nil, before the journey concludes with the massive, 16-minute epic Holy Nature. This debut was issued in a professional three-panel digipak CD format, strictly limited to only 150 copies, making it a rare artifact for collectors of underground ambient music. As a unique tribute to its naturalistic concept, the initial release was accompanied by a special edition featuring a wooden token printed with the project's blazon, further solidifying the album's identity as a raw and immersive tribute to the arctic soundscapes.
