HELLLUST Sin, Blasphemy & Lust CD

Based in Portsmouth, UK, and led by Portuguese musician Marco Miranda (formerly of Purgatory), the project Helllust released their debut full-length album, Sin, Blasphemy & Lust, on April 25, 2023, via Prophetical Productions. This record is a raw and uncompromising tribute to traditional Satanic Black Metal, fueled by themes of misanthropy, occultism, and pure religious defiance. Despite being based in the United Kingdom, the project maintains strong ties to the Portuguese underground, specifically the Santo Tirso region, bridging the two scenes with a sound that is both aggressive and atmospheric. The album features seven tracks that clock in at approximately 26 minutes, emphasizing a direct and visceral songwriting style that avoids modern trends in favor of old-school extremity. From the crushing opening of Merciless Wrath of Thy Lord Belzebu to the closing track Cidade Pecado, the music is defined by sharp tremolo riffing, blistering tempos, and harsh, blasphemous vocals. The physical edition of the album was limited to 200 copies on CD, featuring an 8-page booklet that showcases the band's dark aesthetic and lyrical commitment to the sin, blasphemy, and lust promised by the title. This release effectively established Helllust as a rising force in the international black metal underground, representing a grim and focused vision of spiritual rebellion.
