The 2024 album Káosz by the Hungarian black metal project Feketefagy, released via Death Trap Productions, marks the culmination of a journey that began two decades ago. Originally formed in the Pécs underground in 2004, the project eventually evolved into the solo vision of multi-instrumentalist Azzarath, who utilized this debut full-length to refine and expand upon the raw foundations laid during the band's early demo years. The album is a cold and introspective exploration of nihilism and spiritual decay, staying firmly rooted in the traditional black metal aesthetic while incorporating a more modern, atmospheric depth that reflects the artist's personal evolution. Across its six tracks, including the title piece Káosz and the melancholic closer Death of the Spirits of an Ancient Forest, the album maintains a balance between aggressive blast beats and slower, harmonic guitar passages that evoke a sense of profound isolation. While the majority of the lyrics are delivered in Hungarian to capture raw and direct emotion, the inclusion of English lyrics on the final track provides a broader thematic warning regarding human expansion and the destruction of nature. The production on this Death Trap Productions release is notably balanced, allowing the deep, visceral vocals to resonate clearly within a dense atmosphere of distortion. Limited to 310 copies, Káosz stands as a significant revival of a cult name in the Hungarian scene, bridging the gap between old-school hostility and atmospheric maturity.
