EXOMORTIS Exomortis CD
The 2019 self-titled album Exomortis by the Portuguese death metal band Exomortis, released through a joint effort by Firecum Records and BoneSaw Entertainment, is a significant archival release often referred to as the band's lost album. Originally recorded in 1996 but left unreleased for over two decades, this record captures the raw, mid-90s death / thrash metal sound of the band hailing from Maceira, Leiria. The tracklist features twelve songs that blend visceral aggression with provocative themes, including titles such as Introduce Your Penis, Sex Machine, Kill Your Planet, Suffer Life, and a 1996 version of Putrified Pleasures, which originally appeared on their debut demo. The lineup featured on these recordings consists of vocalist Lhô, guitarists Sérgio Cardoso and Fernando Silva, bassist Bigodes, and drummer Miguel Felícia, whose collective work helped pioneer the extreme metal scene in the Leiria region before the band's initial dissolution in 1997. By finally issuing this material in a professional CD format—including a limited slipcase edition—Firecum Records and BoneSaw Entertainment provided a definitive look at a group that eventually evolved into other projects like Canker Bit Jesus. The album serves as a grim and essential historical document of the Portuguese underground, preserving the chaotic energy and old-school production values that defined the band's peak years.
